London
18 October 2006
Newton Investment Management, a UK asset management subsidiary of Mellon Financial Corporation, won the award for UK Asset Management Firm of the Year at last night's Financial News Awards for Excellence in Institutional Asset Management - Europe 2006.
In one of the most hotly contested categories of the evening, Newton also narrowly missed out on taking the crown for Global Equity Manager of the Year, claiming the runner up spot.
Now in its fifth year, the annual Financial News Awards for Excellence in Institutional Asset Management acknowledges outstanding performance of the main players in the European institutional asset management industry. The Financial News fund management team drafted the shortlist in consultation with the industry and the winners were chosen by a panel of 50 consultants, fund managers and pension funds from across Europe.
Commenting on the win, Helena Morrissey, Chief Executive Officer of Newton Investment Management, said: "This award marks an outstanding few years for Newton and is a tangible reflection of the superior investment results and excellent service that people across Newton are dedicated to delivering to our clients."
